Wireless Voice for your patient:
Vital-Sim Laerdal Option

This is the set up for the Laerdal Wireless Microphone option.  See your Laerdal representative for pricing.

Follow the same general directions as for the RadioShack unit.  See below for actual connections.

Special adaptor for Laerdal receiver so you can use a standard stereo audio cable. There is one trick with the Laerdal receiver.  You have to buy an adapter (from RadioShack) that allows you to connect a standard stereo audio cable (like the kind you use for a computer) from the receiver to the Vital-Sim audio input jack.  No big deal.  Really. I happen to have a "phono to standard" adapter as shown.

Phono end of audio cable being connected to adapter. Now you see the adapter in place. Again, I just happened to have an audio cable with an 1/8 inch connector at one end and what is shown...a phono connector on the other.  Typically, try to find a stereo cable with 1/8 connectors at both ends and buy the appropriate adapter to connect to the receiver.  RadioShack people get this question all the time from computer and stereo users.  When in doubt, take both the Vital-Sim box and the receiver down to the "Shack."

Laerdal wireless microphone set-up and ready to use. This is what the final set up looks like.  The audio cable is connected to the back of the receiver and the back of the Vital-Sim box. The receiver is plugged into the wall for power.  Turn on the switch (on the side.) Plug in a microphone to the transmitter (look for an old computer microphone with a 1/8 jack.) Turn on the power to the transmitter, cup the microphone in your hand...and speak SOFTLY.  Remember, you are one sick patient.  Feel the pain.
