SIMS Medical Center Gets Promise of $250,000
9 January 2008

In early 2007, Berkshire Bank announced a $100,000 donation to SIMS Medical Center.  As part of Springfield Technical Community Colleges (STCC) capital campaign, Berkshire Bank agreed to provide $100,000 over a three year period.  All of the money is tagged for upgrading the Center's Critical Care Unit.

The current unit has been renamed the Berkshire Bank Critical Care Unit and will begin upgrade in 2008.  Plans include replacement of the AV system used to record and provide feedback during patient simulation.  A headwall system with oxygen, air and suction will also be installed.

Surgical student operating in the SIMS Medical CenterUnder the same capital campaign, Mass Mutual Financial has pledged $150,000 for the School of Health & Patient Simulation at STCC.   The funding will be received over a three year period and will support computer related technology for the school and Surgical Suite upgrades for SIMS Medical Center.

Upgrades to the Surgical Suite will include mounting of surgical lights, installation of headwalls, additional equipment, and expanded electrical supplies.
